Growgroup Discussion Starters Know K1 What struck you about today’s message? Grow G1 Do you think Jesus demand re: forgiveness is realistic? What about war crimes? Rape? Murder? G2 Where are you in the story? Who do you identify with? G3 Why did Jesus use such absurdly HIGH numbers when answering Peter about forgiveness: 490 times to forgive someone? The servant owed $6 Billion Dollars? Why didn’t Jesus make it a bit more realistic? G4 Did anything strike you about Hadassah’s story? Come to Him anyways. Growgroup questions Know K1 If someone were new in town and asked you why they should go to Cornerstone, what would you say? Grow G1 Can you think of a time when someone was lying, you knew that they were lying and yet still they maintained that lie? Have you ever done this? G2 What does John mean when he’s talks about a) light b) darkness? How might be his understanding of light and darkness surprise us? G3 Read v7: How does being honest about our sins / brokenness lead to fellowship with each other? Wouldn’t it alienate us from each other? G4 Most of us would never claim that we’ve not sinned. But what are some of the ways we live that seems to say we’re better than we are? Think about how we live, how we portray ourselves, what we choose to let others know etc. G5 Read v 10: What does John mean that we make God out to be a liar? G3 What do you think about Jesus’ advice regarding approaching people who have hurt you in Matthew 18:15-20? G4 When dealing with hurt, are you more likely to ghost the person who hurt you (sweep it under the rug) or blast them (tell everyone you know)? Grow G1 Why is adoption such a powerful image of spiritual transformation? G2 What struck you about Krista and Michael’s testimony of adoption? G3 Even though God has adopted us, why do we struggle to live like it? How do you think this makes Father God feel? G4 Rom 8:14-17 | In what way do these verses highlight the truth that as adopted children of God, the worst is behind us? G5 Dan said that God is not just interested in getting us into his family, but about getting his family (values, priorities) into us. How does he do this and how are we changed as a result?
