K1 What did the Holy Spirit highlight to you in this morning’s teaching?
Grow
G1 4:4-5 | How is your balance of joy and gentleness? Why do you think Paul emphasises both? Why do they need each other? Which are you strongest in?
G2 Think about the image of worry being like a “full and unflushed toilet”, prayer being the flush and God’s peace being the clean water that fills back in. Did you appreciate this picture? Why or why not? Can you think of a different analogy?
G3 What are you most worried about? Verbalize it to God. Don’t worry about how it sounds or what you say. Just tell him.
G4 God / the Lord is mentioned 4 times between verse 4 and 7. In what ways are these verses all about God?
G5 Totality words are used 5 times between v 4-7. What are they? Why do they matter?
G6 In what ways did Jesus in his suffering hold on to (a) joy (b) gentleness (c) prayer instead of worrying (d) God’s peace? How can his example give you hope.
